Care for some Hitler Bacon?

Before WWII Hungarian soldiers were given rations of bacon, which they called “Kaiser-bacon”, because it came from the Austrian kaiser. Then during WWII the Hungarian received their food rations from the Germans, but this time there was no bacon, only a brick of gelled fruit, so they called it Hitler-bacon.

Apparently the Hungarian soldiers didn’t like any of the German food rations, which included cheese in a tube and anchovy paste, except for Hitler-bacon, which they brought home and made their own, now usually made from pumpkin
